چکیده

Purpose – Achievement emotions have been shown to mediate the association between achievement goals and learning performance, but no research date has tested whether there is a similar process in predicting germane cognitive load. Based on control-value theory of academic (Pekrun, 2006), present study model determine goal orientation extraneous load were mediated by Methodology This survey involved 487 voluntary university students (N = 487; 61% women; ages 17-23) who enrolled statistics class these participants selected using cluster random sampling technique. They responded three adapted scales which translated into Bahasa Indonesia. The were, namely Goal Questionnaire (AGQ), Emotions (AEQ), Cognitive Load Questionnaire. Data collected 20 minutes before ended data was then analyzed bootstraped bias corrected (CI 95%; N=5000) Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Findings results structural equation modeling indicated that mastery-approach associated with higher through enjoyment lower anxiety, performance-avoidant anxiety. Moreover, negatively enjoyment, positively Significance These findings implications educational settings: for most goal, enjoyable activities are helpful, as those increase performance processing information. first show linked capacity learning-relevant information, part due student experiences environment.

Students’ Achievement Goals, Learning-Related Emotions and Academic Achievement

In the present research, the recently proposed 3 × 2 model of achievement goals is tested and associations with achievement emotions and their joint influence on academic achievement are investigated. The study was conducted with 388 students using the 3 × 2 Achievement Goal Questionnaire including the six proposed goal constructs (task-approach, task-avoidance, self-approach, self-avoidance, o...

Effects of Achievement Goals on Perceptions of Success and Achievement Emotions in Minority Children

Obesity is a global epidemic even more so for some minority groups. Physical activity is one arm in the fight against obesity. Research has demonstrated that engagement in physical activity is predicted by positive emotions and perceptions; thus, the activity chosen to help burn calories must be enjoyable for sustained engagement. The present experiment examined the effects of manipulated achie...

Achievement Goals and Achievement Emotions: Testing a Model of Their Joint Relations With Academic Performance

The authors propose a theoretical model linking achievement goals and achievement emotions to academic performance. This model was tested in a prospective study with undergraduates (N 213), using exam-specific assessments of both goals and emotions as predictors of exam performance in an introductory-level psychology course. The findings were consistent with the authors’ hypotheses and supporte...

Development and Validation of Two Instruments Measuring Intrinsic, Extraneous, and Germane Cognitive Load

Cognitive Load Theory is one of the most powerful research frameworks in educational research. Beside theoretical discussions about the conceptual parts of cognitive load, the main challenge within this framework is that there is still no measurement instrument for the different aspects of cognitive load, namely intrinsic, extraneous, and germane cognitive load. Hence, the goal of this paper is...

Precompetitive achievement goals, stress appraisals, emotions, and coping among athletes.

Grounded in Lazarus's (1991, 1999, 2000) cognitive-motivational-relational theory of emotions, we tested a model of achievement goals, stress appraisals, emotions, and coping. We predicted that precompetitive achievement goals would be associated with appraisals, appraisals with emotions, and emotions with coping in our model. The mediating effects of emotions among the overall sample of 827 at...
